New Media is the application of new, fresh and exciting ideas to old materials and concepts.Saying new media is “new” implies that this form of art has never been done, and is therefore pushing the boundaries of what art is. New Media is all about innovation and the use of materials and ideas like never before.
New media seems to not be confined to any boundaries. The art work itself also has no limitations as to what materials or influences it utilizes. “New Media” uses new technologies in a less static, less stationary way to create its unique pieces of work. This form of ever evolving art stretches past simply displaying a piece in a conventional style and explores possibilities such as installations in public spaces or structures with function and visual appeal. Many pieces of New Media art is designed with its environment, interaction with people, the elapse of time, etc. in mind and how the piece will function when these factors are added to the equation.
New Media, to me, is the most adventurous, intrusive and fantastic art there is today. It has function and visual impact, and with every piece, has a unique story that is directly apart of the piece itself. New Media can attempt to raise questions about fundamentals in our everyday life through interactive presentation, or simply visual impact.

Your definition of new media is decidedly upbeat! I would like to see you engage that upbeat style a little more directly with your sources. How have they contributed to your understanding of new media? Three sources seem to be missing from your list.
