How would I describe New Media? Ever-changing, sums up my general vision of New Media. To be new is to change and evolve with time, surpass and enlighten things that are past. The ‘media’ part of the term referring to the use of technologies in the artwork, such as CD ROMS, audio files, digital works etc. I believe New Media to be a wide field of expression which utilizes any route necessary to make a point or express a message, the ultimate goal being to evoke any reaction. These routes include installations of all sizes, or videos that require or encourage the viewer to participate in the artwork itself.
New Media cannot be easily defined, in fact I don’t believe that it can ever bear a long term definition for the field is constantly changing and requires artists to reinvent their style and fine tune it to new tools. At the core, New Media serves as a multisensory means of communication that any person can learn or experience something from.
