To those whom this world is not familiar, welcome to Libri Universum. You, through the wealth of all mankind’s knowledge and the vast imagination of the human mind, have the world in front of you, in the form of the written word. We live our lives to the written word. Through it we share our experiences and the experiences of others. From it we take what we need and it can supply. With it we have built our utopia, Libri Universum.
We, the people of Libri Universum uphold, respect and marvel literature, as we believe literature provides us with all we need. Literature is our education for the masses, ever increasing in complexity as the people reach their capabilities mentally. The imagination is fueled by what is gained by reading literature, and assists us in the ever progressing search for pleasure in life. The diversity of the knowledge is vast, for every one is expected to produce experiences to share with anyone. Literature provides us with comfort in hard times as an escape to anywhere. We even use the books as instruction on life, people and society. We use written texts as communication, experience and sustenance. This being said, we do not denote personal interaction, as this creates experiences to share. We want the collection of experiences to lead us to pleasure in this world, through the use of written text. Our goal is simple; find pleasure where ever it lies.
In this utopia, books create an environment that we may enter. Objects that exist in this environment are as real as in reality. We are even able to pluck objects from the world of books and bring it back to reality where we may use them for the same purpose they are used for in the book. However, the knowledge inside the books never leaves, for books are eternal, infinite things and the words are forever inscribed on the pages. These books are indestructible, in reality and idea. But what you take from the literature you will not question, for The Editor has considered it worthy of print, and you would therefore be questioning the judgment of The Editor.
In this utopia, we do not age, and we do not believe in fated destiny. We believe life is lived to the point of satisfaction. Life should not be squandered away when one is no longer satisfied with it. When one grows tired of the knowledge of this world, they will choose to slip away, and into a realm of far greater knowledge. We only dream of what that realm is like.
We know the first person to exist wrote the first book on his flesh using his own blood. We know him as The Editor. All precedent living and non-living things can be traced back to him. His power and wisdom dictates what is appropriate for publication, and what should be censored from viewing. The Editor is responsible for making books available to those who sought knowledge.
Now, Libri Universum has an endless store of knowledge one can experience. The resource of the human brain is infinite, and so the pool of knowledge knows only one limit, time. But in the time we have, we will hunt for all sources of pleasure in this life.
Our Utopia works by organization and structure. This utopia has a distinct hierarchy of order. Each inhabitant of Libri Universum must share at least three experiences with mankind in order to advance us as a species. Then, an editor revises the works before letting it go to be published. The publishing is done by The Bookbinder who prints the work into a tangible book and distributes it to the libraries. Once in the possession of the library, The Librarian manages the books so they are accessible. Books are finally categorized by genre in alphabetical order and fully available. We print in the single language of Libri Universum, Silh, and on a substance not unlike paper, but instead, will last forever. These prints do not harm our fertile environment with we share with many living creatures.
It is critical that two things are understood in Libri Universum. One, not everyone can view all knowledge and experience. Some information is too sensitive, complex or dangerous for any one person to see. Identification is provided for each inhabitant of Libri Universum so they can access knowledge and experiences suited for they abilities. Secondly, to house this ever-expanding store of knowledge, negative space in converted into useful space which can be used for the accessible storing of knowledge. Similarly, population size follows a mathematical equation that is dependent on the amount of useable space available. Furthermore, to navigate this space, spaceship transportation is the number one mode of transit.
