I think at the heart of New Media, you find an improved method of communication. I mean, that’s really a synonym to the term. New = improved (because nothing is ever original) and Media = method for communication. Therefore, in the most straightforward words, New Media in the late 20th century, is employing inventions that uses digitized and computerized language to communicate and network.
The invention of this new sort of media also opens the doors to new possibilities of expression. Unlike my photographer friend Ben, who produces static images to be viewed by individuals with a ‘take it or leave it’ attitude, New Media permits an option to employ the individual in an activity in order to complete the devices goal. The emergence of this new sort of communication method has allowed for increased perceptions into another person’s experience. Therefore, New Media is the improvement in communication between individuals by increasing message readability and bridging space and time.
