In regards to levels of interactivity, I also think like Linda and immediately think of video games and how interactive they have become. I myself believe that video games are a very good indicator of not only how far we have gotten in technology, but also how interactive we’ve gotten with technology.
The reason why video games are such a good indicator is because they were one of the first technologies that included interactively, but at a low level. It has quickly evolved from what it once was 20 years ago and this is due to technology advancing very rapidly. Video games have gone from low levels of interactivity, to medium and now continuing onto higher levels with newer developments like the Wii. It has allowed players to interact even more closely to the game by giving them a unique controller that serves as everything, from a baseball to a gun. Interactivity in video games have almost reached a high level with Project Natal, where a camera tracks every single movement you make and has facial and vocal recognition. It has even gotten to the point where Artificial Intelligence can interact personally with the player and can even use the player’s name (see videos). The interactivity in video games has advanced a lot and thus mimics the technological interactivity in today’s world like movies.
As Kelvin has stated before, 3-D movies are now the thing of the future and everyone wants to watch movies in 3-D so they can feel more immersed in it. I myself went to go see Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3-D the other day. I have seen both movies more then once before but I still went to see them again because, well, it was created in 3-D and thus added more interactivity to both of the movies. 3-D movies are still relatively new but have begun to garner a lot of attention due to the fact that it is a lot more immersive then just watching a plain old movie.
I believe that interactivity in everything will soon become the norm in future society. It allows for the viewer to feel like they are part of the experience which excites most people to no end and gives them a more satisfying experience overall.
